How to Read Your Face Score in GlowUp

A face score is a dashboard, not a destiny. GlowUp returns six scores from every scan — the overall Aura Score plus five dimensions — along with a summary, your strengths, and improvement areas ranked by priority. Here is how to read each part and turn the result into a weekly plan instead of a mood.

The Aura Score and its bands

The Aura Score is the overall rollup, on a scale of 0 to 100 with named bands: 90 and above is Excellent, 85 and above Radiant, 80 and above Glowing, 65 and above Balanced, and everything below that Building. First scans typically land in the mid-50s to mid-60s, and that is deliberate — the scale is calibrated so the trainable dimensions have somewhere to take you. Read the overall number the way you would read a fitness test on day one of a programme: it is the baseline the rest of your history will be measured against, not a judgement to absorb. The band names matter more than decimal-level differences between scans; moving from Building into Balanced over a couple of months is a real, visible arc, and chasing single points week to week is noise-reading.

Overall versus dimensions

The overall number tells you almost nothing actionable on its own — the five dimensions underneath are where the information lives. A mid Aura Score with strong Facial Structure and weak Skin Quality is a skincare situation with good headroom; the same overall number with excellent skin on a softer frame is a different situation entirely, and the two people behind those results should be doing different things this month. This is why every scan also ranks your improvement areas HIGH, MEDIUM, and LOW: the ranking is effectively the app reading the dimensions for you and ordering the work. Spend your energy where the ranking points, which is nearly always a trainable dimension, and let the rollup take care of itself — the overall score is an output, not a target.

Facial Structure and Contour

These two are designed to be read as a pair. Facial Structure — labelled Cheekbones in parts of the app — reflects the underlying frame of the face, and it is the slowest-moving score in the system; on any normal timescale, treat it as context rather than a project. Contour — labelled Jawline in places — is how defined that frame currently reads, and it genuinely moves: with body composition, water retention, sleep, posture, and grooming choices like beard shape. If Contour sits well below Structure, presentation is lagging your frame and there is real headroom in leanness, sleep, and grooming. If they sit close together, you are already showing what you have, and Skin Quality is probably the better place for your next block of effort.

Symmetry

Symmetry measures left-right balance, and it deserves the least of your anxiety. Mild asymmetry is near-universal and largely invisible in real life, and the structural component barely moves — which is why symmetry rarely appears high in your ranked improvement areas. Before reading anything into a symmetry number, audit the photo: an off-centre camera, a few degrees of tilt, uneven lighting, or a slightly asymmetric expression will all move this score for reasons that have nothing to do with your face. What symmetry tracking is genuinely good for is catching grooming imbalances — brows at different heights, an uneven beard line — and confirming that presentation changes read the way you intended. One serious note: a sudden change in facial symmetry is a medical matter for a doctor, not an app.

Skin Quality and Glow Potential

Skin Quality is usually the fastest win in the whole system: it reads clarity, texture, and evenness, and it responds to a consistent routine on a timescale of three to four weeks — which is exactly why the app generates a five-to-eight-step AM/PM routine from your scan and tracks it with streaks. If your ranked improvement areas put skin at HIGH, that is the app telling you the cheapest points on the board are here. Glow Potential is the estimate of headroom: how much your presentation could improve from where it stands. Read a high potential score as good news attached to a to-do list — your weak dimensions are the trainable kind, and the overall Aura Score has room to climb if you do the work.

From reading to plan

Turning a result into a week is mechanical once you know the parts. Take the top-ranked improvement area and make it the focus; if it is skin, that means the generated routine done daily with the streak intact, and any new product barcode-scanned for Safe / Caution / Avoid flags before it joins. Ignore the LOW-ranked areas entirely for now — attention spent there is taken from where it compounds. Set a rescan for three to four weeks out under the same conditions as your baseline (the cooldown will keep you honest in between), and judge the block on the progress chart’s slope, not on any single scan. If a result confuses you, ask the AI Skin Coach — it knows your latest scan and can explain why a dimension came in where it did.
